Kala & her husband are the proud parents of three Eagle Scouts, who work in the naval engineering, training, & aviation consulting fields. When not working, Kala enjoys hiking, pottery, snorkeling & attending regional theater & art exhibits.

Kala started out representing fortune 500 companies. She broadened her practice to represent individuals, families & organizations. She has advocated successfully both in courts at the trial & appellate levels as well as through hundreds of negotiations.
White House Leadership Development Program (WHLDP) Alumni Association

In 2015, Kala was competitively selected as a White House Fellow to improve the American public's experience with a broad range of federal services. She partnered with 30 government programs across 17 agencies. This ranged from U.S. Passport Services & Social Security programs to the IRS & the Federal Student Aid program. Kala worked with senior executives and C- suite leaders & drafted key OMB guidance to identify the top 30 service providers. She piloted a maturity model & developed strategies to address common challenges from using customer feedback data & common procurement to hiring user experience staff & updating privacy policies. Kala has served on the WHLDP Alumni Association board since 2020 & has participated in the selection of, and mentored, 10 WHLDP cohorts from 2016 - 2025.

Kala serves on the Membership Education Task Force of the National Capital Area Council of Scouting America. She leads district Eagle boards of review for Eagle Scout candidates. She has mentored ~ 75 ~ scouts to the rank of Eagle Scout.
Through her advocacy work, Kala guides parents of children & young adults through the high school & college application processes.
She has successfully advocated for children by developing & implementing 504 & individualized education plans (IEPs). She empowers parents & students to achieve their goals.
